The next version of Android will be named Gingerbread. Though not officially announced, the name has been confirmed after a Gingerbread mascot officially turned up outside Google’s Mountain View Headquarters where it is placed right next to a statue of Android 2.2 “Froyo”.
The highlight of Apple’s Q4 earnings call today was Steve Jobs surprise appearance where he went on-air to slam Google’s Android, RIM and other rival Tablet makers.
The G2, which is built by HTC is T-Mo's latest Android phone to be released and the next generation of the G1 line. There has been a two year gap since the release of its predecessor the G1. Though the phones are named similarly, there are big differences between the two phones.
Everybody’s favorite consumer-stats-collecting organization The Nielsen Company has gathered some very interesting data about the most popular mobile operating systems by analyzing how many handsets (of each OS) people bought in the last six months.
Android-based smartphones have their screen resolutions, even of the highest-end sets, limited at 800 (or 854) x 480 pixels. That includes the current top-of-the-line EVO 4G, Desire HD, Samsung Galaxy S and Nexus One.
Let me get this straight outta the gate: Google’s Android mobile OS is coming soon to iPhone 4!! Android can already run on iPhone EDGE (2G), 3G and iPod touch. The ports don’t work as well as they should do. since iPhone and Android don’t go along well (power management not optimized, iPhone’s battery drops to zero within a few hours) but it’s definitely great if you want to try out the so called open-ness of Android.
The Stereoscopic 3D experience is coming soon to iOS devices and Android! It’s not going to be native three-dimensional video but still offers similar results and the cool thing is: you won’t have to wear those hideous polarized glasses!

One of the bigger reasons for its increasing stock worth is the iPhone - a smartphone introduced back in 2007 that literally revolutionized the cell phone market. Today, the iPhone is used as a benchmark, as a standard by which the quality of other phones are measured.
Google’s very own smartphone and current developer device - the Nexus One - is now receiving an OTA update for Android 2.2.1 (Build FRG83). It is unclear at the moment what the update does, but it is safe to say that it probably fixes bugs and improves general stability. It does, however, remove the ability to perform one-click rooting.
Included among the new features of the HTC Desire Z / Desire HD is the updated Sense UI. Besides the little tweaks in the interface, the updated Sense also brings a super-fast 5 second boot time. The tech is called “HTC Fast Boot” and is exclusive to the newly announced phones.
