Apple has confirmed a cellular issue affecting a small number of iPhone 18 Pro Max users on AT&T. The problem can cause the phone to lose cellular service, preventing calls, texts, and mobile data from working.
Apple says it has already released iOS 27.0.1 and an AT&T carrier settings update to help prevent the issue from affecting more devices.

The company strongly recommends that all iPhone 18 Pro Max users install iOS 27.0.1 by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
Apple said in a statement:
“We have identified an issue affecting a small number of iPhone 18 Pro Max users on the AT&T network that may cause a device to lose service and be unable to make calls.”
The AT&T carrier update will roll out automatically to affected users over the next 14 days. Users can also check for it manually by going to Settings > General > About.

If an iPhone 18 Pro Max has already been affected by the cellular problem, Apple says a software update cannot restore service. Instead, the device needs to be replaced.
Affected customers should contact Apple Support or AT&T, or visit an Apple Store or AT&T location for help.
Apple says it has only seen the issue on the iPhone 18 Pro Max with AT&T. No other iPhone models or carriers are currently known to be affected.
