Report: Apple Has Added More Drivers To Its Apple Car Fleet, But No New Vehicles

Apple has added as many as 23 new drivers to its fleet of autonomous cars, according to a report. Despite that, there have been no new cars added.

The move, spotted by macReports, notes that the number of drivers now available to Apple sits at 154, while the number of cars that they are allowed to drive remains the same 69 that have been in place for the last few months.

The same report also notes that Apple is still to apply for a Californian autonomous driving permit, meaning no cars are driving around without someone there to keep an eye on them.

Apple has been working on self-driving technology for some time, while it still isn’t clear what the Apple Car and project actually is. While some rumors suggest that Apple is readying an actual car that could be built by a third party, others say that the company would rather offer its own technology for purchase and use by other manufacturers instead.

Whatever the truth, Apple’s work has been ongoing for a number of years with a high number of managers coming and going.

Whatever is happening inside Project Titan, it doesn’t seem to be going particularly well. Apple’s Kevin Lynch, one of the people behind the Apple Watch’s success, is now thought to be the man in charge.
