Apple Releases iOS 26.7 With Important Security Fixes If You Don’t Want To Upgrade To iOS 27

Apple has released iOS 26.7 for iPhone users who are not ready to move to iOS 27. The update arrives alongside Apple’s major iOS 27 release and focuses entirely on security fixes.

When users open Settings > General > Software Update, iOS 26.7 appears as the main update, while iOS 27 is shown as an additional option below it.

This gives users who want to stay on iOS 26 a way to continue receiving important security updates without upgrading to the new operating system.

Apple’s release notes do not mention any new features or major changes in iOS 26.7. Instead, the update is designed to keep supported iPhones protected with the latest security fixes. Apple has also released iOS 27, which brings a much larger collection of new features, including the new Siri AI, Apple Intelligence improvements, and changes to the Liquid Glass design.

The option to remain on iOS 26 could be useful for people who prefer to wait before installing a major software update. Major iOS releases can sometimes bring bugs or compatibility issues in their early days, so users can now stay on iOS 26 while still getting security improvements.

Apple is expected to eventually make iOS 27 the main update shown in Software Update, but for now, iOS 26.7 gives users a choice.

Both iOS 26.7 and iOS 27 are available for compatible iPhones. iOS 27 supports the same iPhone models as iOS 26, including the iPhone 11 series and newer, along with the second-generation iPhone SE and later.

For users who want to keep their current iOS setup for a little longer, iOS 26.7 is the update to install.
