Calif iOS 27 Jailbreak Bypasses iPhone Lockdown Mode And Supports Updates

Calif iOS 27 jailbreak has been shown off by the hacker team Calif, which works on an iPhone even when it’s in Lockdown Mode.

The jailbreak even persists when a new iOS software update is installed, something that is especially notable.

The jailbreak was shown in a video posted to X, with an iPhone 18 Pro in Lockdown Mode hacked before being updated to iOS 27.2. The video shows that the jailbreak remains live even after performing the update.

Apple’s Lockdown Mode is supposed to help protect people who are most at risk of being targeted by spyware, such as journalists and members of governments. When enabled, Lockdown Mode disables a raft of other features to harden the iPhone’s protection, including blocking FaceTime calls from new callers and limiting the web technologies that can be used by Safari and other apps.

Calif has been showing off new iPhone jailbreaks for the last few weeks, including a jailbreak for the newly released iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo. However, Apple has yet to confirm the existence of such a hack.

It also confirmed earlier this year that it was unaware of any iPhone being successfully hacked while Lockdown Mode was enabled. However, Calif says that it is disclosing the vulnerabilities it finds to Apple while noting that it has no plans to release a jailbreak tool for users.
