Apple’s first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, has been on sale for almost two weeks. There have always been concerns over the durability of foldables, so CNET has been testing how the iPhone Duo holds up — and so far it’s managed more than 260,000 folds without any issues.
CNET built its own foldable phone-testing device and it has been running 24 hours a day, seven days week, to make sure that the iPhone Duo is put through its paces.

It’s also been streaming the process on the CNET YouTube channel between 1pm ET and 5pm ET daily. As of the last stream, the iPhone Duo had surpassed that 260,000-fold mark and is expected to continue for some time yet.
It’s unclear how long the test will run, but CNET has confirmed that it will keep going until at least November 20. The stream will presumably end sooner should the iPhone Duo’s display start to fail, but there’s no sign of that happening just yet.
Owners of the iPhone Duo foldable have so far praised its durability beyond on specific failure point that has affected an unknown number of people. It’s suspected that a faulty component in the device’s hinge built into some iPhone Duos can cause the display to fail.
Apple is aware of the issue and is replacing affected handsets, but it’s stopped short of any kind of recall.
