New Report Claims All iPhone 14 Models Will Get 120Hz ProMotion Displays

A new report claims that Apple will include 120Hz ProMotion displays on all iPhone 14 models.

While Apple is expected to bring the same feature to the iPhone 13 lineup this September, it’s also expected that it will only be available on the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The news comes via a new report from The Elec which says that LG, the provider for displays that make their way into Apple’s mid-range iPhones, will switch to providing LPTO OLED displays — the kind that are required if you want to enable the 120Hz ProMotion feature we just mentioned.

Display equipment maker Avaco has begun talks with LG Display over the specifications of the sputters that will be used to manufacture low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) thin-film transistor (TFT) OLED production, TheElec has learned.

LG Display will likely give the order from the equipment once its customer Apple approves its OLED production line.

The use of 120Hz ProMotion displays is something Apple was rumored to have planned for last year’s iPhone 12 launch, but it never came to fruition. It now looks almost certain that iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max will offer the feature, allowing for smoother scrolling and improved visuals.

The news that the same feature will come to all iPhone 14 models next year will be good news for those who prefer not to sit at the very top of Apple’s price structure.
