Apple Updates AirPods 3 Firmware To Version Number 4C170

Apple has updated its recently released AirPods 3 firmware to bring the version number up to 4C170. The previous release, version 4C165, was made available to the public in December.

As is the case with firmware updates that have been released for AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max in the past, there is no information on what this new update has to offer.

It is also impossible for people to manually initiate the update themselves, too. However, those who do want to ensure they have the latest firmware installed on their AirPods 3 can put them into their Charging Case and connect it to a power source. The update should automatically take place, although it isn’t possible to predict when.

Those who are curious whether they have the latest version of the AirPods 3 firmware, or any other AirPods for that matter, can check via any iOS device that they are connected to.

Step 1: Connect ‌‌AirPods‌‌, ‌‌‌‌AirPods Pro‌‌‌‌, or AirPods Max to your iOS device and open the Settings app/
Step 2: Tap General.
Step 3: Tap About.
Step 4: Tap ‌‌‌‌‌AirPods‌‌‌‌‌.
Step 5: Check the number next to “Firmware Version.”

Apple doesn’t tend to release firmware updates all that often and it’s likely they include performance updates and fixes rather than anything more interesting.
