Dash Is Yet Another iOS App Switcher With Card-Style Visuals And Smooth Animations

Paul Morris·August 28, 2012
The developers of the Dash package obviously have their own opinion about how Apple has chosen to implement multitasking within iOS. The introduction of iOS 4 brought with it the ability to send apps in the background that allows users to quickly invoke them from memory if the need arises, therefore offering a nice new multitasking-type feature to all iOS users. However, as great as the system and idea is, there has been a lot of complaints about the rather mundane way which Apple has chosen to go about adding to the the firmware bundles.

MissionBoard For iOS Is A Near Perfect Card-Style App Switcher Replacement For iPhone And iPad

Paul Morris·August 23, 2012
As powerful as Apple's iOS is, some users will always disagree with the way certain things are implemented throughout the system, meaning there will always be a place for jailbreaking in the iDevice ownership world. One of the much discussed areas of concern in iOS is the way in which users can see what is running in the background and invoke apps from the multitasking part of the OS, something that Apple added as one of the major new features of iOS 4.

How To Add Commonly Used Settings Shortcuts To The Home Screen On iPhone

Paul Morris·August 20, 2012
I have to be open and honest and say that I truly love iOS. I have Android devices, Windows Phone devices and even the odd BlackBerry lying around, all of which have their benefits but iOS wins hands down. With that said, one thing that I find rather mundane about a stock installation of iOS is the lack of shortcut abilities to get to certain system settings that are repetitively used. I'm all about productivity and getting things done in the shortest amount of time with maximum efficiency, which is one of the reasons why I love jailbreaking. The IconToggles tweak that has just landed in the Cydia store is certainly one that would appeal to others who are like me and hate things being hidden away two or three menus deep.

SpringMusic For iPhone Allows You To Control Music Quickly From Anywhere On The Device

Paul Morris·August 20, 2012
Being able to have a plethora of powerful features while also having quick and efficient access to music playback is one of the great benefits of smartphone ownership. Once upon a time, mobile phones would have only come with certain limited features meaning you would be lucky if you got the ability to playback MP3s, never mind listening to those songs on the fly while using other apps. Having said that, listening to music can sometimes be intrusive and can detract from the main usage of the phone.

Jailbreaking an iOS device is an excellent way to introduce additional functionality to the already fantastic user-experience which Apple packs into their mobile devices like the iPhone, iPod touch and extremely popular iPad tablet. As well as introducing new feature sets to the device, users can install packages, tweaks and enhancements that alter the way the operating system functions and change substantial parts of it to suit their own tastes and usage methods. Of course, it isn't all about tweaks and system changes, some users just love to alter the visuals of the device rather than make do with Apple's own aesthetic vision.

This Tweak Adds Page Curl Animation To Notification Center And Lock Screen On iPhone

Paul Morris·August 18, 2012
One of the great things about Apple's mobile operating system is the almost seamless and perfectly crafted animations that take place when users invoke a certain task, like switching between home screens, opening up a folder containing a number of apps icons or when pressing and holding on an icon to put the device into edit mode. The biggest compliment I can pay to the iOS engineers is that everything just works, exactly as it should, pretty much all of the time.

Transform Your iPad Into Mac OS X Tablet With OS X Pad HD [VIDEO]

Oliver Haslam·August 13, 2012
Way back when, before Apple officially announced the iPad and speculation was rife as to what the iPhone maker would make of a tablet device, we all wondered whether we would get an iOS tablet, or a Mac-like slate. We really didn't know for sure, and many people hoped, even begged that Apple would bring OS X to the touch-screen market.

When we talk about jailbreaking an iOS device, the large majority of people conjure up images of running software like Redsn0w or Absinthe to liberate an iPhone, iPod touch or an iPad. Granted, those devices are the most popular and more of those particular models are in circulation but it's important to not exclude the fantastic Apple TV product when discussing the art of jailbreaking. At the time of writing we currently have the second and third-generation Apple TV units in circulation, with a jailbreak only being available on the former of those two models at present.

How To Sync Your iPhone’s Clipboard Data With iPad, Windows PC, And Other Devices

Paul Morris·August 9, 2012
Although we have seen a few packages and enhancements for jailbroken iOS devices that allow users to copy information to the clipboard and then manipulate it in some shape or form, we haven't actually seen something that goes above and beyond the basic functionality and offers the end-user some additional power clipboard management features. Copying information to the memory of the device is a highly underrated feature and something that I'm sure a lot of people would like to see more attention given to.

How To Add A Live Facebook Timeline Feed To Your iPhone’s Lock And Home Screen

Paul Morris·August 8, 2012
When it comes to mobile smartphones and the operating systems that power them, there is always going to be a great divide from users who prefer one platform over the other. We all know that the two largest mobile OSes in the game are iOS and Android, with each one having its own set of pros and cons when compared against the other. Apple fans will argue that iOS is a more powerful and intuitive OS, whereas Android fans love the control they have over their devices as well as the ability to have live widgets on their home screens.
