According to the latest round of rumors, Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer will make a surprise appearance at WWDC 2010 (7 minutes to be exact from Steve Jobs keynote) to announce Visual Studio 2010 for iPhone, iPad and Mac OS development. John Gruber of Daring Fireball reports the following.
Though the whole leaked iPhone 4G / HD fiasco might’ve spoiled quite a lot of fun for some, but now according to this latest report by DigiTimes, Apple already has a backup design for their new iPhone 4G / HD which looks quite a lot like the current iPhone 3G/3GS design. This backup plan was kept in case if Apple had complications in mass producing the new design which we’ve already seen in the double-leak by Gizmodo and from the folks in Vietnam.
Engadget has got this latest scoop in which a source close to them has confirmed that the next iPhone is confirmed to have video calling/chat and that this feature will be the highlight of the first of ads that will go on air after June 7. This series of ads will be directed by Sam Mendes who was the director behind American Beauty and Jarhead. He will also be directing the next James Bond movie.
We have been seeing that every time a new iPhone is released, the price tag of the previous-gen model drops down drastically. When iPhone 3GS came out, 3G price was dropped to $99. And now according to fresh reports Walmart as of today has officially dropped iPhone 3GS price down to just US $97 on two years contract. Apple has also stopped shipping the iPhone 3G 8GB units to AT&T stores and further orders are not being taken anymore. This, if anything, are clear signs of the arrival of new iPhone, the iPhone 4G / HD.
After all those announcements of Android 2.2 and Google TV by Google at I/O 2010, a guy named Bryn Webster, emailed Steve Jobs asking him whether Apple has something up their sleeves to blow Google “out of the water”.
We have already seen lots of evidence related to video calling/conferencing feature in both iPhone OS 4 betas and iPad OS 3.2. And now screenshots from a field test firmware on iPhone 4G / HD has surfaced which confirms this even more! According to the source, these were taken during video calling field test on the next iPhone.
Android port for iPhone 3G is now finally available for download. You can do pretty much everything that you would expect a normal Android phone to do but it is still not recommended for day-to-day regular use. The power management functions of Android for iPhone 3G are yet to be implemented so your phone will only last for an hour or so of Android use before the battery runs out. Apple has just released Beta 4 of iPhone OS 4 for developers, along with a new version of SDK for both iPhone and iPod touch. Only members enrolled in the iPhone Developer Standard or Enterprise Program can access these bits of iPhone OS 4 and SDK by signing into Apple Developer Connection.
All the Apple iDevices (iPhone, iPad and iPod touch) are designed to be used with fingers. But occasionally, there are times when you wish you had a stylus to operate these devices. This is especially useful for iPad which really fails as a note-taking/drawing Tablet. Due to the capacitive nature of the screen, the traditional styluses don't work with these devices. This Mi-Stylus “has a special impregnated tip that replicates the physics of the human finger”.
There is yet another twist in the “lost” iPhone 4G tale. The highly controversial search warrant of Gizmodo’s editor Jason Chen and affidavit (PDF link) has revealed that Brian Hogan’s (the guy who found the lost iPhone in a bar) roommate Katherine Martinson tip has led Apple and cops to the arrest of the iPhone 4G finder. She did this to save herself from any wrongdoings as Hogan used her computer to restore the iPhone OS following the remote wipe by Apple.
