Apple is expected to announce the Apple Watch Series 12 in September, and a new report suggests that it could see the return of ceramic as a material option.
In a post on the X social network, prototype collector Kosutami said that a ceramic case is on the way to the Apple Watch Series 12. Apple previously offered a ceramic Apple Watch Edition alongside the Apple Watch Series 2 in 2016, but it was a costly option with a $1,249 price point.

Apple has since sought to make the Apple Watch a more affordable wearable, bringing an end to the ceramic model.
The last ceramic Apple Watch was the Series 5 in 2019, with the Apple Watch Series 6 ditching the option entirely. The material was strong and light, and its return is sure to be well received. However, the likely high price will surely be an issue.
This isn’t the first time that we’ve heard rumors of the ceramic Apple Watch’s return. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman had suggested it would be available this year or in 2027, suggesting there may still be some wiggle room in Apple’s plans.

The Apple Watch Series 12 is expected to debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, not to mention the iPhone Ultra. Apple’s first foldable is sure to steal the show, but the Apple Watch 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 are set to bring new options for wearable fans.
