Oliver Haslam·September 22, 2012
HTC has made its 8X and and 8S Windows Phone announcement video available to stream online as of right now. We love to see new technology announced here at Redmond Pie, and we love to watch it happen in glorious, streaming video. If we can't see it live though, just seeing it at all is a bonus. That's why we like to see companies release their own videos after announcing their products, and that's exactly what HTC has done today.

We've seen Apple's demonstrations, and we've also read the reviews from those with more than a slight Cupertino-bent, but the only way we can see what the iPhone 5 is really like in the real world is when the general public begins unboxing them. Today's certainly that day, with millions of consumers worldwide having rushed to become early adopters of the world's most sought-after smartphone.

Paul Morris·September 21, 2012
Apple's download and authentication servers will no doubt be taking a hammering right now as people clamor over themselves to download iOS 6 and install it onto their iPhones, iPads and iPod touches. Ben Reid·September 21, 2012
HTC is a company struggling to maintain consumer interest in the mobile market, and despite acquiring a majority share in Beats Audio, sales of its smartphones have been steadily falling. The HTC One X is the company's current flagship, and despite being very well-equipped in terms of processor power, camera quality and most of the relevant hardware categories, it seems folk have been way more interested in the Samsung Galaxy S III and iPhone 5. In fact, it doesn't seem - that's simply how it is.

Patent Filing Indicates Apple Looking Into Facial Recognition For Device Locking / Unlocking

Ben Reid·September 21, 2012
Facial recognition, although used by security firms and law enforcement around the world, is pretty rare in consumer society, and the only time gadgets tend to get any sort of face-spotting technology is in the sci-fi movies. Of course, the jailbreak and root communities have tried - in part - to implement something like facial recognition to our beloved smartphones and tablet, but I think you'll agree with me when I say most, if not all of them have been pretty poor.
