Apple Likely To Announce Another iPad Pro With A Mini-LED Display This Year

Despite having only just refreshed the iPad Pro lineup this week, a new report has Apple continuing with plans to announce another model later this year. According to a DigiTimes report, that model will be the first Apple product to use a mini-LED display.

This isn’t the first time that we’ve heard talk of a mini-LED display going into an iPad Pro in 2020, with analyst Ming-Chi Kuo having said something very similar previously. At the time he suggested that it will be a 12.9-inch tablet, although that’s as much as we know.

If Apple does plan to announce another 12.9-inch iPad Pro, it will surely be differentiated in other ways than just a new display technology. More cameras, increased storage, and perhaps a faster processor might be in the cards.

The inclusion of mini-LED will allow Apple to produce an iPad with deep blacks and improved color accuracy, similar to that afforded by OLED in the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro.

We don’t know at what point during 2020 we can expect to see the high-end 12.9-inch iPad Pro, but the fact that it’s coming later in 2020 might point to a September or October release window – those are the two months that Apple tends to use for product announcements, with iPhones, Apple Watches, Macs, and iPads released in those months recently.
