AppIe Is Surveying iPhone Users’ Use Of Included USB Charger In Box Ahead Of iPhone 12 Launch

With Apple heavily rumored to be ditching the USB charger when it starts selling the iPhone 12 later this year, the company is already said to be surveying users to see what they think about it.

Apple is also reportedly doing away with the included EarPods as well, although that isn’t mentioned in the survey.

The current survey reportedly asks people what they did with the USB charger that came with their iPhone when they bought a new one. Apple seems to be interested in learning whether people recycled or continue to use their old charger when a new one arrived with a new iPhone. Apple also reiterates that it’s asking about the USB charger itself, not the Lightning cable.

The USB charger is used for charging using a wall outlet. You can plug the charger into an iPhone with a separate charging cable.

9to5Mac reports that there are various checkboxes that can be selected during the survey.

  • I sold or traded it with my iPhone
  • I lost it
  • I gave it to a family member or friend
  • I still use it at home
  • I still use it outside (at work, school, or other places)
  • I still have it, but I don’t use it

Apple survey that I received by email. Multiple questions about how I use the charger! Will we have an iPhone without a charger in the box?

Apple similarly surveyed users about their use of the headphone jack on MacBook Pro notebooks, according to the report. Presumably, the response informed Apple’s decision to keep it around. It’ll be interesting to see how this latest survey pans out.
