This Cool Shortcut Adds Weather To iPhone Lockscreen Without Jailbreak

While we’re all waiting for Apple to bring widgets to the iPhone’s Lock screen, designer and developer Broank has gone and done it themselves. At least, sort of. What they’ve done is create a shortcut that checks for the weather information and then displays it on a wallpaper that is automatically set as the device’s Lock screen wallpaper.

The shortcut, which requires iOS 15 and an iPhone X or later, pulls the image from a free stock photography website although users can also change that to be something more personal if they prefer.

Rain or shine. Update your Lockscreen wallpaper with beautiful live weather conditions. Wetr is a Shortcut that sets a new wallpaper and overlays weather conditions on top, each time you run it.

Beautiful Themes. 4 themes to choose from, or let Auto theme control Light and Dark for you.

Installing the shortcut is as simple as heading to the webpage here and downloading it. You’ll need to give the shortcut a few permissions, so make sure you’re happy to do that before continuing. Once installed, you can configure the shortcut to run at specific times with a guide on the website also running you through how to do just that.

This obviously isn’t quite as great as having a dedicated weather widget on our iPhone’s Lock screen, but it’s definitely the closest thing we’ve come across without having to mess around with a jailbreak!
