The Latest AirTag Firmware Update Tweaks The Unwanted Tracking Sound For Easier Hearing

Apple recently updated the firmware on its AirTag item trackers and it has now been found that the update adds a tweak that changes how the unwanted tracking sound works.

In a new support document spotted by MacRumors, the new change makes the sound easier to hear, allowing people to more quickly locate an unknown tag.

While little information about the new update has been made available, we do know that tweaks to the audible sound have been made.

AirTag Firmware Update 1.0.301

Tuning the unwanted tracking sound to more easily locate an unknown AirTag.

This is of course good news because it helps people locate an AirTag that could be used to follow them without their knowledge. Apple’s item trackers have received plenty of bad press for the way they can be used to stalk people and Apple continues to make changes to try and avoid that being a problem. While this update won’t fix things entirely, it does at least mean that people who have an unwanted AirTag with them will now more easily be able to locate it.

Apple’s item trackers are among the best in terms of their intended use but those abilities have also made them particularly useful to stalkers and those wanting to follow larger items like cars.
