The Apple Watch Series 8 Might Finally Be Getting A Big Boxy Redesign

Apple’s upcoming Apple Watch Series 8 might be getting a new, more boxy redesign according to recent reports. If that sounds familiar, it should — the same rumors flew around last year for the Apple Watch Series 7 and were proven to be false.

This time around, things could be different. The new design is again being suggested but this time from a new source.

Twitter user ShrimpApplePro has shared information that a new flat glass is being used on the new Apple Watch Series 8 with the suggestion being that it could be used to allow the flat-edged design that we didn’t get last year.

That has also seen YouTuber Front Page Tech release a new video building on that information. That channel, and host John Prosser, previously leaked the flat Apple Watch redesign last year. Notably, Prosser did say at the time that the design could potentially be an Apple Watch Series 8 one, something that now seems to have been accurate.

Little else is known about the new Apple Watch Series 8, other than we can expect it to be announced later this year and that it will run watchOS 9 — software that will be announced during the WWDC22 event next month.

Talk of the watch being able to measure body temperature could yet turn out to be accurate, although it has also been said that Apple continues to struggle to make sure that such readings would be accurate enough to offer this year.
