Tesla Says It’ll Be Ready To Demo Its Steam Integration Starting Next Month

Tesla CEO Elon Musk says that his company will be able to demonstrate its Steam integration as soon as next month.

The integration will allow gamers to play their Steam games while sitting in their Tesla, with Musk saying that the company is “making progress.”

Tesla already offers in-car gaming via Tesla Arcade, with some reporting that it could eventually compete with the likes of the App Store, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Marketplace. That seems unlikely given the cost of entry — you need an entire car to play, of course. And then there’s the fact that you also need to be sat in the car to play.

It also remains to be seen just how capable the hardware built into Teslas could be in terms of playing games. However, the newest hardware found in the latest Model S and Model X is thought to be on par with current consoles thanks to its 10 teraflops of processing power.

This is all very much a theory at the moment, however. Musk saying that something is coming doesn’t always mean that it will — you only have to look at his failed multi-billion-dollar buyout of Twitter for that. And the fact the Roadster isn’t here yet.

Nor the Cybertruck. And you can’t buy any of its other cars without a long wait, either.
