Google Announces Assistant Along With Amazon Echo Rival Google Home [Video]

Google has used the opening keynote of its I/O 2016 conference to announce two new offerings. The Alphabet-owned company has introduced its own Siri/Cortana/Alexa-like personal digital assistant called Google Assistant, as well as an Amazon Echo rival called Google Home. Google CEO Sundar Pichai described the underlying technology within Google Assistant as a "conversational assistant", whereas Mario Queiroz - VP of product management at Google - claims that the Home will come equipped with "strong bass and clear highs" that should eclipse the performance of the Amazon Echo from a musical enjoyment perspective.

A newly surfaced report has provided a small amount of insight into the potential supply chain of LTE chips intended for use within Apple's upcoming iPhone 7. According to the recently published report, Intel will be responsible for the provision of up to 50-percent of the faster LTE chips that will be packed into the iPhone 7, which is due to be revealed later this year. The report is currently unconfirmed, but does tie in rather nicely with recent speculation about the potential for Qualcomm to lose one of its biggest accounts to a rival company.

Apple has officially announced that its new stunning retail presence in San Francisco will open its doors on May 21 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. The retail arm of Apple's operations has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to get the store ready to be presented to the public, with Apple now finding itself in a position to welcome footfall into the new Union Square store. Of course, when you welcome in the new, it ultimately means that the old has to make way, meaning that the San Francisco populous can now prepare to say goodbye to the existing Apple Store at Stockton Street.
