iPhone 14 Pro / Pro Max Could Get Faster 6GB LPDDR5 RAM

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are now expected to come with faster RAM compared to the non-Pro models, as had been suggested in the past. The new report comes via DigiTimes which claims that while all of the models will have 6GB, the Pro models will have faster memory.

According to that report, the new models will all sport 6GB of RAM which is an increase over the 4GB of RAM that the iPhone 13 lineup begins with.

However, those wanting the fastest RAM available will need the more expensive models with the memory likely to be used for more advanced photography features. Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are expected to benefit from new 48-megapixel cameras.

If the reports are correct, we can expect the following lineup specifications:

  • iPhone 14: 6GB (LPDDR4X)
  • iPhone 14 Max: 6GB (LPDDR4X)
  • iPhone 14 Pro: 6GB (LPDDR5)
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max: 6GB (LPDDR5)

This will be the first time that the Pro models will get the new A16 chip while the standard models use the previous A15 Bionic, too.

Apple is expected to release the iPhone 14 lineup in or around September, with new Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch Pro being joined by a refreshed Apple Watch SE around the same time. New iPad and M2-powered Macs are also a possibility before the end of the year, too.
