Apple’s Refreshed MacBook Pros Still Thought To Be On For Launch This Month

Apple will launch its rumored 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro notebooks at an event this month, according to a new report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

Writing in a weekly Power On newsletter, Gurman says that he still expects Apple to announce the new product lineup next month, something that has been suggested before.

Apple generally announces these kinds of products in October, suggesting we should be hearing something pretty soon.

The new notebooks are set to benefit from a new Apple M1X chip, Gurman says. That chip will see improved graphical performance among other things.

The Apple M1X chip, the likely name for a more graphics-intense and professional-focused M1 chip, is indeed still on tap for 2021. We’ll likely see it show up first in a new range of MacBook Pros in the next month and a higher-end Mac mini at some point. The M1X has been developed in two variations: both with 10 CPU cores (eight high-performance and two high-efficiency) and either 16 or 32 graphics cores.

Apple has already launched new iPhones, iPad, and iPad mini recently while the new Apple Watch Series 7 goes on sale next week. Rumors of a refreshed Mac mini are also floating around, while updated AirPods were expected to have been announced by now. We’d expect them to come to market before the year draws to a close, too.
