All 2020 iPad Pro Models Ship With 6GB Of RAM And A UWB Chip

Apple announced its new iPad Pro yesterday, and while we knew that it came with the new Apple A12Z processor, we didn’t know what else was going on inside the new tablet. Now we have more of an idea about what’s going on, with the news that each model ships with 6GB of RAM. They also include the U1 chip that ships in the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro.

The news that the new iPad Pros have 6GB of RAM is an interesting discovery. The 2018 iPad Pros all shipped with 4GB of RAM, except the model with 1TB of storage. That got 6GB, although we never did find out why. Now it seems Apple has decided that all devices should get the new memory.

We now also know that Apple has given the iPad Pro the same U1 chip that debuted in the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro. That ultra-wideband chip allows for more accurate directional AirDrop transfers right now, but it will eventually be super useful when Apple gets around to releasing its rumored AirTags trackers.

Now that we know what’s inside these tablets, we’re waiting for someone to put them through their paces with the Geekbench app. It’s a safe bet that these will be super fast, and certainly more speedy than the 2018 iPad Pro that they replace.

It’s just a matter of where they sit with regard to the latest iPhones, now.
