We Might Get A New MacBook Air As Soon As Next Week

We’ve been expecting a newly refreshed MacBook Air at some point this year after analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said he expected one in the second half of 2020.

But we might not have to wait that long after all, with a new MacRumors report suggesting we could see a new model next week.

While MacRumors hasn’t been able to confirm it, a tipster has told the outlet that the MacBook Air will see some action next week. That might not normally get anyone excited, but there’s a reason to trust this particular source more than others – they have good form for this kind of thing.

Last March, MacRumors received an anonymous tip claiming that Apple would announce new iPad, iMac, and iPod models with three consecutive days of press releases the following week, and that information proved to be two-thirds accurate with new iPad Air and iPad mini models announced on Monday, March 18 and an iMac refresh on Tuesday, March 19.

If Apple does refresh its MacBook Air next week, it’s expected to come with the improved scissor keyboard, killing the troublesome butterfly keyboard. That would then leave one fewer notebooks with the keyboard that has been failing left and right in recent years.

We don’t know for sure what else will be included, but a spec bump is surely in the cards. A redesigned chassis is unlikely this time around, but we’ve been surprised before.
