Tesla’s New Software Update Adds Waypoints For Navigation

Tesla has released a new software update that is being installed on its cars today, with the big new feature being the ability to add waypoints when using the in-car navigation system.

Amazingly, that’s a feature that people have been crying out for over the last few years and it’s taken until now for it to be added.

However, the addition of the feature via an over-the-air update is something that further highlights one of the benefits of the Tesla fleet — the cars are constantly improving without the need to visit a dealership.

The new update carries version number 2021.40.5 and includes the following release note:

“Add a new stop to your route by tapping the “+” icon on the navigation search button and searching for a destination, or selecting a pin on the map.”

Now drivers can add an additional stop to their navigation route to allow for pit stops and multi-stage journeys — perfect for road trips!

The same update also includes other features that the company began to ship last week including support for music streaming service Tidal and improvements to cold weather usage.

If you aren’t seeing the updated software just yet, hang fire. Your car will download it eventually — hopefully you’ll be able to add waypoints soon!
