Tesla’s New Car Infotainment System Offers PS5-Level Performance And Plays Cyberpunk 2077

Elon Musk showed off the new Model S Plaid yesterday alongside a new infotainment system that is capable of playing Cyberpunk 2077. According to Musk, the system offers “PS5-level performance” thanks to its Ryzen processor and a discrete AMD RDNA 2 GPU.

Musk was in typical form when announcing and showing off the feature, demonstrating the Cyberpunk 2077 game running in a product Model S Plaid car.

The Verge has the details.

“There’s never been a car that has state of the art computing technology, state of the art infotainment where this is literally at the level of a PlayStation 5,” said Tesla CEO Elon Musk during a demo event last night. “This is actual PlayStation 5-level performance… yes it can run Cyberpunk. It’s high frame rate, it will do 60fps with state of the art games.”

AMD said last week that it would be powering the new system in Tesla cars. The current models include the Model S and Model X, both getting systems with 10 teraflops of compute power. That’s pretty much identical to the 10.28 teraflops offered by, yes, a PS5.

More images of the controller, and how the game plays in real time have also been shared thanks to a post on Reddit.

Of course, the $130,000 Model S Plaid is a strange way to play a game that still isn’t allowed back into the PlayStation Store because of its botched launch. That said, botched launches are something of a Tesla specialty as well, so maybe it’s perfect.
