After going through the process of fine tuning and improving thanks to twelve months of preview builds, Microsoft has officially launched the latest version of its Visual Studio integrated development environment (IDE) about a week before Windows 10 is released to public. After taking onboard comments from users over the last year, a time period that also included a release candidate, Microsoft feels it has sufficiently improved the Visual Studio IDE enough to release to the public alongside an update to its .NET framework.

The very final versions of Visual Studio 2013, .NET 4.5.1, and Team Foundation Server 2013 are now available to download for those tethered to Microsoft’s MSDN dev network. With Windows 8.1 now making its grand entrance, the Redmond company is currently working to ensure the majority of its product line is brought up to speed, and if you are an MSDN Subscriber, you can now grab these new releases from the MSDN Subscriber Downloads page.

One of the announcements to come out of today’s event opening is the news that a new version of Visual Studio along with .NET Framwork is on the cards. Unimaginatively named Visual Studio 2013, the updated software may not yet be ready for primetime but that hasn’t stopped Microsoft by making a developer preview of the said tool available for download immediately.

Windows 8’s October 26th release date has been confirmed, and in the meantime, Redmond-based Microsoft has been preparing all the associated bits and pieces usually associated with a major OS release, including Visual Studio 2012 and .NET Framework 4.5 which have both been released to MSDN and TechNet today.

With Microsoft pushing the Release Preview of Windows 8 and a Release Candidate build of Windows Server 2012 today, it seems that the download fun doesn’t end there, with Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 RC also being available for users to download. Users can now start preparing for what Microsoft call the “next generation of development”, claiming that developers can’t predict the future, but they can get there first.
