This App For Android Is The Ultimate Battery Saving Tool For Your Device When In Sleep Mode

Ben Reid·December 18, 2012
If you're tired of waking up having forgotten to charge your smartphone, and realize that a relatively high amount of battery has been reduced considerably, you are not managing your device's functions properly. If you run out of juice much quicker than you think you should be, the chances are, a few tweaks and alterations to the way you manage your handset could make all the difference. Deep Sleep Battery Saver wants to help with the science of battery retention, by slipping your smartphone into a deeper sleep overnight -while you're tucked away in bed.

How To Backup And Restore WhatsApp Messages On Android

Aatif·December 17, 2012
When iOS 5 was released, the most effective feature that I found to be was iMessage – Apple’s own web-based messaging solution that worked not just on iPhones, but also iPad, iPod touch, OS X, and then some, making conversation easier than ever before. I had used a lot of internet messengers before for both Android and iOS, but none matched the convenience of iMessage in my opinion. However, if you’re on Android, the best alternative that you get is, beyond question, WhatsApp Messenger. The app is fast, it’s sleek, and works just right. The support for almost all versions of Android also mean that it doesn’t suffer from the platform’s segmentation issue as much as some others do.

Facebook For Android Goes Native Like On iPhone, Features Faster Load Times, Faster Photo Browsing And More

Aatif·December 14, 2012
It’s a generally accepted fact that first mover advantage exists in all fields of life, including the online world. If you look at the most famous web services and applications today, this indeed seems to be the case. However, there are almost invariably always some exceptions to the general principle, and Facebook happens to be one of those. When today’s social networking giant entered the market, there were already big players like MySpace, Orkut and Hi5 in operation, but Facebook offered something different, continued to improve on it, and thrived with it. Today, the online portal boasts enough active members that had it been a country, it would’ve been one of the largest in the world by population.

Yahoo! Mail Gets A Revamp, Brand New Apps For iPhone, Android And Windows 8 Released

Ben Reid·December 11, 2012

Today, Yahoo! has released a glut of new mail apps targeting those on iOS, Windows 8 and Android, as well as revamping its web-based offering, and we've got all the details after the jump.

How To Automatically Trigger Silent Mode, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth And More On A Android Device At A Pre-Defined Time

Ben Reid·December 10, 2012
All smartphones and tablets facilitate the activation and deactivation of the ringing / alert system. Without this ability, we'd be left with loud ringer or message tones in the most inconvenient situations like meetings, libraries, or other such environments, but while slipping a device into silent mode isn't particularly taxing, it would be a great deal better if we could simply create a schedule for when we want our device to be silent, and when we want to hear it speak. It's certainly on my list of 'simple things smartphones should be able to do natively, but often can't,' and help is at hand for those on Android courtesy of an app by the name of Silence.

At the present moment in time the most popular mobile operating system of choice is Android. It isn't a coincidence that Android is also one of the most configurable and customizable operating systems that ships with mobile devices, allowing users to not only change the look and feel of their device, but to also change input methods through the installation of various different keyboard layouts and configurations.

Root Any Android Phone With USB OTG Without A Computer Using Root Transmission

Aatif·December 7, 2012
Rooting has almost always been a necessary concept with Android devices, and if you’ve ever used one while being interested in unleashing the full potential of your smartphone or tablet, you would have rooted it at some point. There are many benefits to gain out of gaining superuser (root) access on an Android device, the biggest of them being able to run custom ROMs – homebaked firmware that unlocks those areas of your device that the manufacturer deemed potentially dangerous to play around with. One thing that all rooting techniques, in general, have in common, is the fact that they all require the use of a computer. Whether you’re flashing a rooted kernel on a Samsung device using Odin, or firing up a command prompt to key-in the commands yourself, or even using a one-click method like CF-root, you will always find that you need a computer to accomplish that. Well, not anymore, now that Root Transmission is here.

Popular Photo-Editing App Snapseed Released For Android, iOS Version Goes Free

Ben Reid·December 6, 2012
Snapseed has been a revelation in the increasingly-popular image editing game, but since Google acquired Nik Software - the firm behind the iconic app - last September, there have been few recent murmurings touting the demise of Snapseed. Those have been well and truly put to rest today, though, with the release of Snapseed for Android; and in more good news, it's also absolutely free of charge.

Get iOS Style Notifications On Android Lock Screen With LockerPro

Aatif·December 6, 2012
What we use our smartphones for the most is, unarguably, communication. There can be various forms of communication – cellular, short messages, IM, social networking, email and whatnot – but the fact remains that the basic usage of any smartphone device stays the ability to connect to the world and communicate. It’s also a no-brainer that you don’t keep glued to your phone twenty-four hours a day, which is why these devices continue to operate and send and receive communication for us even when they’re not being actively put to use. For those times when we were not actually looking at the screen (heck, we didn’t even hold the phone in our hands; it was in the pocket), we have notifications – ringtone alerts, vibrations patterns, LED lights – but there’ll always be a notification.
