Report: Expect An Apple Event In March Or April For iPhone SE 3 Announcement

Apple is likely to hold a virtual media event in March or April with the aim of announcing the new iPhone SE 3, according to a new report.

Writing in his weekly Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says that we should expect the event to bring an iPhone SE with 5G connectivity to market.

Gurman says that the expectation comes from information gleaned from sources, but doesn’t say in what capacity they work.

Apple gets ready for its first virtual event of 2022. Apple’s first virtual event of 2022 is coming up in just a few short months and is likely to take place in either March or April, I’m told.

What should we expect? Probably a new iPhone SE, at least. It was at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in April 2020 that Apple ushered in the current iPhone SE.

Apple’s current iPhone SE is almost a year old at this point and while some had suggested this new model could ditch the Home button and more closely resemble an iPhone XR, that now seems wide of the mark. Recent reports now point to that not happening until 2024.

Instead, the iPhone SE 3 now seems set to gain a new CPU, likely improved camera system, and the aforementioned 5G connectivity that will make it the cheapest iPhone with super-fast cellular network connectivity.
