Samsung Gear VR Headset Leaked In New Set Of Photos, Shows Off Cool Factor

Ben Reid·August 22, 2014
There's scarcely an area of the mobile industry that Samsung has not touched upon, with the company having already delivered multiple smartwatches since launching the Galaxy Gear last year. With Google Glass gathering steam ahead of its release early next year and Facebook having recently acquired Oculus's VR technology, Samsung is angling for a piece of the pie with a virtual reality headset of its own, and apparently, the so-called Gear VR will be showcased at IFA. The notion of an imminent VR headset is nothing new, but now, we have some images to mull over, and below, you can check them out.

Aatif·August 22, 2014
It appears that the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is all the rage these days, with not only the rest of the world taking part in their own willful dunking, but big names in the tech industry in particular. Our interest, being a tech news outlet, of course, extends more to the latter, and we always have a keen eye out for more and more top tier people taking the challenge. The latest participant, although most definitely top tier, is not a person - it’s Samsung’s Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone.

This Smartphone Case Can Detect If You Have A Heart Problem

Ben Reid·August 22, 2014
As consumers of mobile tech products, we're often focused on features like resolution, camera capabilities and processors, but while strong tech. specs enable us to enjoy a better overall experience with apps and games, the technology at our disposal could also serve as guardians of our health and wellbeing. Given the smartwatch boom and the introduction of several fitness-related initiatives right from the top, we're going to be seeing a lot more emphasis on this particular sector, and although the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S5 already include basic-level heart rate monitoring systems, a new $200 case can gather such intricate details that it's able to diagnose a number of heart conditions.

4.7 And 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Dimensions Leak Straight From Foxconn [Images]

Ben Reid·August 22, 2014
Foxconn has long since been Apple's main ally in production of iOS devices, and with the iPhone 6 set to be announced in just a few weeks, Foxconn's manufacturing plants must be swarming with evidence. Of course, as part of the agreement to prepare the smartphone for mass distribution, Foxconn is obligated to keep everything under wraps, but every now and again, something slips through the net. Today, we have what appear to be precise iPhone 6 measurements sourced directly from Foxconn, and although these details have been scattered around the blogosphere for quite some time, it's nice to finally have something a little more concrete.

Aatif·August 22, 2014
We have had more than enough reasons to believe that the new iPhone 6 will come next month; specifically, on September 9th in a media event. All the evidence right now points in that direction, and if we were to take any hint from what Walmart has done today, it’s all but confirmed. The retail giant has announced temporary price cuts to both the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c models, offering the former at $79 and the iPhone 5c for an astounding, not to mention highly lucrative, $0.97.

Ben Reid·August 22, 2014
The Pangu jailbreak for iOS 7.1.x and up has proved a big hit among Cydia fans, successfully opening the door for the second time on iOS 7 after the initial heroics of the Evad3rs. Although the initial tool was a tad unrefined, the Pangu team has frequently updated the utility for a smoother, more secure jailbreak, and having recently rolled out Pangu 1.2.1 featuring bug fixes and AFC2, those already jailbroken can now reap the benefits of these enhancements directly from Cydia.

This Fashionable Bracelet Doubles Up As A Portable Charger For Your Smartphone [Video]

Ben Reid·August 21, 2014
As mobile device owners, we've all been stuck in that annoying situation by which our need to play games, send emails and use apps outweighs the device's battery capacity. We write checks that our overworked smartphones and tablets simply cannot cash, and as a result, the peripheral market makes a pretty penny from developing new, convenient ways to boost the retention. From simple charging cases to full-on battery packs, there are plenty of solutions available, but while many forgo appearance in favor of practicality, this neat new wrist-worn charger serves as an inconspicuous accessory when not in use.

The iPhone 6 may be the hottest topic in tech circles right now, but even though the annual dose of iPhone Fever has taken a stronghold once more, we've also the small matter of the iPad refresh to contend with. Only yesterday, we heard that the next-gen iPad Air could double up on RAM to 2GB, with certain 'pro' features apparently set to arrive with iOS 8.1 early next year, and now, a new parts leak has presented us with a close-up look at some of the device's internals.
