New iPhone 18 Pro Max Dummies Show Thicker Camera Bump

Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max later this year, and new dummy units might have just given us our best look yet at how they will shape up.

Shared by Vadim Yuryev of Max Tech, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max dummy units were most likely made as a way for case makers and other accessory companies to create their products.

That means they were likely created using accurate dimensions, and those dimensions suggest that there will be a change to the camera thickness this time around.

According to Vadim Yuryev, the new units have “much thicker cameras,” while the “black glass on the cameras protrudes a bit more too.” In the case of the iPhone 18 Pro Max, they also note that the device’s overall dimensions are similar to those of the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Apple is yet to officially announce either of these new iPhones, but rumors have suggested that they will be the first to sport a variable aperture lens on their main cameras. That could be part of the reason for the larger camera area, while the iPhone 18 Pro models’ telephoto lens is also thought to have a larger aperture. Both of these changes could give the cameras improved performance in low-light conditions.

Apple is expected to announce the new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max alongside its first foldable iPhone this fall, likely in September.
