Apple Will Add Apple Pencil Support To iPhone Duo With iOS 27.2

When Apple announced the iPhone Duo last month, it said that it would add Apple Pencil support to its list of features later this year.

It wasn’t confirmed when that would be, but a new report says that Apple Pencil support will come to Apple’s first foldable iPhone with the release of iOS 27.2 next week.

That’s according to analyst Max Weinbach, who says that Apple Pencil support does indeed work with the iPhone Duo when the latest iOS 27.2 beta has been installed.

The update has been in beta testing among developers and public beta testers of late, and it’s expected that it will be released to the public within days. The current expectation is that the update will ship on or around Monday, October 26.

Apple has already confirmed the iPhone Duo will only work with the USB-C Apple Pencil, so no other model will work. If you already own one of the other Apple Pencils for use with an iPad, the idea of buying a new model just for the iPhone Duo might initially seem like a bad idea.

But the form factor of the iPhone Duo could make it a particularly useful note-taking device, although having to take the Apple Pencil everywhere is less than ideal.

The iPhone Duo is available for preorder today and will officially go on sale this Friday, October 23. It starts at $1,999 for the 256GB model, with 512GB and 2TB models also available.
