Android Oreo 8.1-Based LineageOS 15.1 Now Available To Download

When it comes to custom Android ROMs, there is absolutely no shortage of them available for download by the intrepid smartphone or tablet tinkerer. LineageOS is perhaps one of the most popular, and with good reason.

The newly available LineageOS 15.1 is absolutely no different, and being built on Android Oreo 8.1, those who install it can be sure that they are not only getting the very best that LineageOS has to offer, but also the best that Google has in its locker, too.

When we said that LineageOS was popular among fans of custom ROMs, we were not joking. We were deadly serious when we said it was for good reason, too, with LineageOS focusing on stability in particular. If you install a version of LineageOS on your tablet or smartphone then you can be sure that it has been built from the ground up to be as stable as possible while also being kept fully up to date with all available security patches. Now, LineageOS 15.1 is available to download and as we mentioned earlier, it’s all Oreo, all the time.

That, of course, means that you can get your hands on all the great new features that Oreo 8.1 brings to the table, including notification channels, picture-in-picture and everything else Pixel owners have been lauding over the custom ROM fans for months now. Add in all the great features LineageOS has as well, and this is a custom ROM well worth trying out.

The full list of features that LineageOS can boast is a long, long one and we just don’t have room to fit it all in here. Some of our favorites, however, include:

  • The ability to have volume buttons control media volume at all times.
  • Launching of the flashlight on a sleep/wake button long-press.
  • Gradually increase of ringtone volume for incoming calls.
  • Improved status bar options, including double-tap to sleep and the ability to slide a finger across the status bar to alter the display’s brightness.
  • Support for Tasker-like profiles.
  • Display temperature customisation based on day and night scenarios, including schedules.
