iPhone SE 3 Does Just As Well As iPhone 13 In Latest Drop Tests

Apple made the refreshed iPhone SE available for sale last week and new tests show that the little device is just as sturdy as the more costly iPhone 13.

New drop tests carried out by Allstate Protection Plans shows that the new iPhone SE can withstand quite a fall, especially when landing face down.

In tests conducted by the outfit, Apple’s iPhone SE survived a fall from around 6 feet with just a few scraps and bumps on the front. However, dropping the device from the same height saw the back glass break in multiple places — suggesting an iPhone SE will last longer if you drop it face down.

“With the 3rd generation iPhone SE, Apple has created a truly durable phone that doesn’t break the bank. It survived one drop from six feet on its front and side, which is impressive. While it didn’t survive a back-down drop from six feet, putting it in a case should help,” said Jason Siciliano, Allstate Protection Plan vice president of marketing and creative director. “While its $429 price point makes the new iPhone SE a more affordable option, it can cost up to $299 to repair. That’s why a case, screen protector, and protection plan are always good ideas.”

Apple’s new iPhone SE is still suited to AppleCare+, especially in the hands of kids, but it might fare better than we could have expected.

The new iPhone SE sells for $429 and comes with an Apple A15 Bionic chip as well as 5G connectivity for the first time.
