iOS 16 Converts Units On The Fly Within Messages And Other Apps

The App Store is full of apps that can convert currencies for us but there are some times when we just want to be able to do it inside whatever app we’re already using. Apple seems to agree, and iOS 16 will make it easier to convert units without leaving the app we’re using.

According to MacStories’ Editor-in-Chief, Federico Viticci, iOS 16 allows you to select a unit and then instantly convert it as required.

He shared various examples of that to Twitter including converting Celsius to Fahrenheit and more. The feature is one that people might not use a lot, and certainly not every day, but it’s an example of a small addition that will surely be well-loved on the rare occasions it’s required.

Apple’s iOS 16 is currently in the hands of developers who have been testing the initial beta for almost two weeks now.

The first public beta release isn’t expected to arrive until some point next month, while the final version that will be made available to everyone is some months off. We expect Apple to release iOS 16 to the public in or around September.

Apple announced iOS 16 during the WWDC22 opening keynote alongside iPadOS 16, tvOS 16, macOS Ventura, and watchOS 9. All of those updates are also available in beta and will be released this fall.
