The PlayStation Blog today shared the most downloaded games on the PS Store in 2019, with titles divided into paid, PS VR, free-to-play, and DLC categories.
The immensely popular Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot unsurprisingly topped the list of top 20 paid PS4 titles. Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition and NBA 2K19 took second and third places, with Grand Theft Auto V continuing to be relevant, having snagged fourth place. From among games released in 2019, NBA 2K20, Days Gone, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and Borderlands 3 made it to the charts.
Beat Saber topped PS VR chart, with Superhot VR and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR taking second and third places. On the free-to-play side, Apex Legends overtook Fortnite to take first place, though the latter landed a clean sweep in DLC and expansions chart. Epic’s iconic battle royale enjoyed quite the run on the PS4 in 2019, with all 10 of the most downloaded DLC belonging to the game.
BR games were dominant in the free-to-play category with Realm Royale and H1Z1: Battle Royale making it to the top 10 alongside the aforementioned. Monster Hunter clone Dauntless took third place while looter-shooter Warframe coming in eighth.
There’s a practicality to these lists beyond just raw statistics. They are an easy way to decide on your next game. That is not to say that a high number of downloads is invariably an indication of a game’s quality. It does, however, show how popular it was.
