How To Fix iOS 16 Update Requested And Stuck Issue On iPhone And iPad

Here’s how you can fix iOS 16 OTA Update Requested stuck issue on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch device.

After months of public and developer beta testing, Apple’s iOS 16 update is now available for download by anyone who has an iPhone X or newer. The update is available worldwide, but that doesn’t mean that everyone will be able to install it immediately.

The reason for that is that some people are suffering from a problem that rears its head with every new iOS update — they’re receiving a message that says “Update Requested” but don’t move beyond it. Don’t worry if that sounds like you, there are a few things that you can try to get things back up and running as soon as possible. You’ll be running iOS 16 in no time.

Let’s get started.

Restart Your iPhone

It’s something people have been doing with computers since forever, but it’s also something that often works. Give your iPhone a restart and see how things fare.

Try A Hard Reboot

Sometimes you find yourself stuck and a hard reset may be needed. To do that, the steps depend on the iPhone in hand. Update Via iTunes or Finder Instead

Updating your iPhone over the air is always the easiest and quickest way to do it, but it doesn’t always work. You can try installing the update using iTunes on a PC or Finder on a Mac if you’re having no luck the other way.

Wait it Out

If you’re trying to install iOS 16 at the same time as half the planet, there’s a good chance that you’re just stuck in a queue. Apple’s servers can’t always handle the load when everyone tries to update at once, so consider giving it a little while and coming back. You’ll get that sweet iOS 16 update eventually. It just might take a little while.
