iOS 16 Final Release Date Announced, Here’s When You Can Get It

iOS 16 final release date has been announced today by Apple. Here’s when you can download it on your iPhone.

After months of beta testing, Apple has now finally confirmed when we can all download iOS 16. The update will be released to the world on Monday, September 12.

Apple confirmed the new during today’s iPhone 14 unveiling and also released the first Release Candidate update to developers. That’s the version that will likely be made available to everyone in a few days, barring any unforeseen problems.

The iOS 16 update will be available for iPhone X and iPhone 8 or newer devices and is set to be one of the biggest updates to the way we use our iPhones in some time.

The update will not only add new Lock Screen customization options, but also allow widgets to be placed on the Lock Screen for the first time. Other improvements include the ability to edit and unsend iMessages, while Mail users can also schedule emails and unsend those that they already sent.

Unusually, Apple isn’t making iPadOS 16 available on the same day, however. Apple has already confirmed that the iPad will have to wait until October for its own software update, with the new Stage Manager multitasking system thought to be the chief cause of the delay.

Apple also announced new hardware today, with iPhone 14 models joined by three new Apple Watches including Apple Watch Pro, a new rugged option.
