Facebook Rolling Out New Web Interface With Dark Mode To Some Users

Facebook is starting to roll out a new web interface to some users, months after it was announced at FB 2019. The same announcement included the Android app, which has already had its own lick of paint, but it’s taken a while for the web interface to follow suit.

While the updated interface isn’t yet available for everyone, some users have reported that they have been prompted by Facebook to take the new interface for a try. If they agree to do so, they’re then asked whether they want to use the white or dark layout. They’re also able to change the interface to either option at any time, too.

As with any redesign like this, not everyone is happy about the change. Some users are finding it a downgrade compared to the previous way of using Facebook although we’re sure they’ll eventually come around.

Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any pattern that explains why some people are being offered the new interface and others are not. That also means that we aren’t yet aware of any way to trigger the prompt to try it out, either. If you’re not being offered the chance to try the new Facebook interface right now, all you can do is sit back and hope that you’re part of the next wave.

We also don’t know when this will be pushed out to everyone, either.
