Apple's iOS is considerably more interactive than it used to be thanks to the introduction of Today view widgets, the Control Center, and other such effects. But minor adjustments, like the active icon of the Clock app showing the actual time, also make use of otherwise static, unspectacular necessities. The jailbreak scene is always looking for ways to improve and modify things, though, and if you'd like to replace the default analog clock with a digital one, then, well.. there's a tweak for that!
Earlier this week, we learned of an antiquated security flaw that has been lurking for over a decade, and could leave Apple and Google device subject to attack. With the former said to be working on a fix to release in the near future, it has now been revealed that the FREAK security flaw also affects those running Windows machines, adding many millions more devices and users to the list of the vulnerable.
A new report suggests that Apple and HBO are in talks to bring the service provider's new Web-only channel to Apple TV. More details on the news can be found right after the break.
The way that apps and games are distributed and consumed has shifted greatly in the past decade, with the likes of the App Store and Google Play permitting anybody with a little knowledge to create, share, and potentially forge a living from making apps. Those looking to create apps, games and experiences on Microsoft's Xbox One will be pleased to learn that the software giant has finally launched an SDK to select testers, with view to a broader roll-out for interested devs in the coming months.
If you've had access to a digital device over the past few days, you'll no doubt have caught the furor surrounding that dress - or The Dress, as the Internet is calling it - and specifically, what color it was supposed to be. Some said blue and black, while others defiantly maintained that it was, in fact, white and gold. The meme, which originated on Tumblr, seemed to explode into life, and while a few days have passed since it first went viral, the debate continues to rage on. As a very appropriate sign of the times in which we live, the snap of the dress has been made into a phone case, with two different color configurations allowing owners to pick their poison, so whether you're "#WhiteAndGold" or "#BlackAndBlue," you can now, quite literally, dress your iPhone in the gown that threatened to break the Internet.
Microsoft's reputation in the software game took a bit of a self-inflicted beating back when Windows 8 launched, and since then, the software giant has been busily reminding consumers of why its flagship OS has commanded such a huge market share over the past few decades. Windows 10 is shaping up promisingly, with the Xbox maker looking to integrate its multiple platforms, products and devices under a more unified, cohesive umbrella. The new Spartan browser, which will eventually replace Internet Explorer, is at the heart of these efforts, and as we've already learned, will harness the power of the digital voice assistant Cortana. Now, we get to see the fruits of this endeavor in action, and as you'll fathom from the clip below, Spartan looks a clean, fluid and functional experience even at its current beta standing.
This time last year at the Mobile World Congress, Nokia - in the process of being acquired by Microsoft - unveiled a trio of smartphones built upon a forked, Windows Phone-esque version of Android. That little enterprise went down like a lead balloon, and was scrapped but a few months later, but with this year's MWC well underway in Barcelona, the software company has taken the wraps off a couple more devices that it hopes will entice users away from the likes of Android and iOS. The Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL are both fairly cheap, and what's more, offer a year's worth of Office 365 completely free. Check both of these devices out after the break!
