Apple’s ‘Shot On iPhone 13 Pro’ Short Film Celebrates Chinese New Year

Apple has shared a short film titled “The Comeback,” which celebrates Chinese New Year and has been put together by director Zhang Meng.

The short film is 23-minutes long and has been entirely shot on Apple’s latest flagship, the iPhone 13 Pro.

The video has been released in celebration of the Year of the Tiger and focuses on a father, a son, and a mysterious forgotten village that has an “out of this world dream.” This is the latest release featuring in Apple’s “Shot on iPhone” series and is designed to celebrate Chinese New Year at the same time as showing off the video recording capability on the company’s high-end flagship.

As you might expect, the short film designed to celebrate the Year of the Tiger has been shot entirely in Chinese but also includes English subtitles for those who don’t understand Chinese but who want to also enjoy the action. As soon as you press play, you are thrust straight into the action with rooftop running and skilled sword action.

The Year of the Tiger celebrations start on February 1st, 2022 and run through until January 1st, 2o23. The last Year of the Tiger celebration was in 2010.

As is always the case, the Chinese New Year is an extremely important holiday in China as well as in other countries around the world, including Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam. As you’d expect, it’s also an extremely busy shopping time for companies like Apple. This latest short film isn’t purely for advertising purposes but it will show exactly what the iPhone 13 Pro is capable of and will definitely entice amateur cinematographers to consider the device if they are looking for hardware that’s powerful and capable of video capture at the highest level.
