Apple Will Reportedly Ship A Redesigned iPad mini With Smaller Bezels This Fall

After months of rumors it appears that Apple might finally be getting ready to ship a new iPad mini, complete with a redesigned chassis and the removal of the Home button.

According to Mark Gurman via his Power On newsletter, Apple will ship a new iPad mini as soon as this fall.

According to Gurman, the new iPad mini “should be a go” and will be “the biggest redesign in the nine-year history” of the iPad mini.

We’ve been hearing rumors for months that Apple intends to redesign the iPad mini to make it more closely resemble a small iPad Air, meaning smaller bezels and no Home button. Rather than adding Face ID, the iPad mini will also reportedly follow the iPad Air model of putting Touch ID into the sleep/wake button, too.

Apple has not refreshed the iPad mini since 2019 and would also likely put a new Apple-designed chip inside to bring it more in line with newer iPads in terms of performance. Apple’s chips have come on leaps and bounds since 2019 and a refreshed iPad mini will need to offer similar performance gains.

This fall is already looking like a busy time for Apple, with new iPhones, Apple Watches, and portable Macs said to be on the horizon.
