Apple Rumored To Have New Mac Studio Machine Ready To Be Sat Below Mac Pro In The Lineup

Apple is expected to announce at least one new Mac at an event that will take place on March 8 and while we don’t know for sure what that Mac will be, it’s already been upstaged.

According to a new report we can expect Apple to announce a new product entirely, dubbed Mac Studio, at some point in the future.

While it’s possible it could come during next week’s event, that isn’t specifically being suggested by 9to5Mac. The machine, however, does sound impressive and is likely to sit between the Mac mini and Mac Pro in Apple’s desktop Mac lineup.

If the report is correct, Apple is now testing two versions of the machine with two different families of Apple silicon.

Based on information seen by 9to5Mac, the new Mac Studio is primarily based on the Mac mini, but with much more powerful hardware. Apple has two versions of Mac Studio under development. One features the M1 Max chip (the same as the 2021 MacBook Pro) and the other a variant of the Apple Silicon chip that is even more powerful than the current M1 Max.

Some previous rumors have referenced a Mac mini Pro of sorts and it’s thought that this new Mac Studio is that machine. It’s also expected that it will replace the current Intel i7 Mac mini that is still being sold in the Apple Store despite the arrival of the M1 Mac in 2020.
