Apple Reportedly Still Working On A Combined HomePod And Apple TV Device

Apple is said to still be working on some kind of HomePod and Apple TV device, complete with a FaceTime camera, according to a new report. We had heard something similar to that before, but things went quiet.

Now, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says via his Power On newsletter that the company continues to work on the product.

Q: Do you think a new HomePod or home device is still coming?
A: I absolutely do think a new HomePod is coming — specifically, a device that combines a HomePod, Apple TV and FaceTime camera. I don’t think a big stand-alone HomePod is still in development, but perhaps a new HomePod mini is coming. In any case, the combination product will probably be at the center of Apple’s approach, with HomePod minis surrounding that throughout the home.

Competing companies like Facebook, Google and Amazon already offer similar machines so it’s possible that Apple would want to be able to get its own product into the market.

There is no indication of what that device could cost or whether it would carry the HomePod name, but Gurman does still believe that a device is being worked on.

Apple currently only makes the HomePod mini having discontinued the larger HomePod last year. A new HomePod that has a screen and camera built in would certainly offer something no other audio device does.
