Apple Releases watchOS 8.4.2 And macOS 12.2.1 To The Public

Apple today released both watchOS 8.4.2 and macOS 12.2.1 to the public with the latter being a big one for people who have been suffering from a Bluetooth issue that caused unusual battery drain.

The issue, which was caused by Bluetooth accessories waking Macs up from sleep and draining their batteries, is now fixed in this new macOS 12.2.1 update and that is reason enough for people to download it as soon as possible — especially on portable machines.

The new macOS update can be downloaded via System Preferences now. We’d suggest installing this update even if you haven’t fallen victim to this battery drain issue, too.

In terms of the watchOS 8.4.2 update, less is known about this one but we do know that there are no big new features to be had here. Instead, this watchOS update focuses on security updates and bug fixes which is reason enough to download the update as soon as possible.

Apple Watch owners can download the new watchOS 8.4.2 update to their Apple Watches via the Watch app on the paired iPhone now.

We don’t think that there is anything new to be had here, but please do make sure to shout out in the comments or on social if you find something that’s either new or broken in this release.
