Apple iPhone XR Was The Best Selling Smartphone Of Every Quarter Of 2019 [Report]

Apple’s iPhone XR was the best-selling smartphone during the third quarter of 2019, according to a new report. Furthermore, it also points out that the phone has taken the crown for each and every quarter of the year since launch.

The iPhone XR went on sale in September of 2018 so missed out on that quarter. But it’s been top dog in each quarter starting 2019.

According to Counterpoint Research’s Market Pulse, the iPhone XR was the top-selling model globally in Q3 2019, capturing 3% market share. In fact, except for the launch quarter in September 2018, iPhone XR has been the top-selling model globally in every quarter since Q4 2018. The XR alone contributed to over one-quarter of the total Apple sales during the quarter, making it the best-selling model for Apple across all regions. Apple also adjusted the price of the iPhone XR in China and several other markets, which helped keep demand strong during the quarter. The iPhone 11 also made its debut in the top 10 within the launch quarter.

Counterpoint Research has the iPhone XR beating out two mid-range Samsung phones in Q3 2019 while Apple’s own iPhone 11 sat in fifth spot.

The top ten best sellers were:

  1. iPhone XR
  2. Samsung Galaxy A10
  3. Samsung Galaxy A50
  4. Oppo A9
  5. iPhone 11
  6. Oppo A5s
  7. Samsung Galaxy A20
  8. Oppo A5
  9. Xiaomi Redmi A7
  10. Huawei P30

With the iPhone XR remaining on sale it will be super interesting to see how long this winning streak continues. It wasn’t too long ago we saw a report detailing a decline in the smartphone sales in North America, but it saw the iPhone XR reigning supreme with the largest marketshare.
