Anker’s EufyCam 2 Security Camera’s HomeKit Secure Video Support Is Here [Updated]

We’ve been waiting for more security cameras to gain support for HomeKit Secure Video, and while we do have some on the market already, it’s always good news when more appear.

Now, it appears that Anker’s eufyCam 2 security camera is close to gaining support after an update was mistakenly made available to users.

Those who were quick to get the update noticed that HomeKit Secure Video support had been added, along with all of the features that brings to the table. But according to Anker, the feature wasn’t supposed to be made available to anyone outside a testing pool and it’s still working its way through verification, as noted by iMore.

eufy is informing users that this update was pushed out by mistake as a result of “internal human error” and that the feature is currently in the certification process.

While that’s less than great news, the fact that the update was even functional is certainly a silver lining to this story. From what we’ve heard so far, the update does work as expected, so it’s unlikely that there will be too much work needed to get it ready for all users.

Once HomeKit Secure Video has been added, users of the eufyCam 2 will be able to enjoy secure video storage via iCloud. All recordings will be available via the Home app on multiple devices, too. We’ll be keeping our ears to the ground for more news on when the update is coming to town once it’s available.
