AirPods Pro 2 To Get Lossless Audio Support, Charging Case With Audible Tracking Alerts, More

Apple’s refreshed AirPods Pro will likely support lossless audio as well as a new wireless charging case that can make a sound for easier locating, according to a new report.

That report comes from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in a note to investors seen by MacRumors.

According to them, the new charging case will be able to alert people to its location using the Find My app in a way that’s similar to an AirTag.

It seems likely that this sound-emitting charging case will integrate into the Find My app, similar to how users can currently emit a sound from their individual AirPods inside the case to help find them. This lines up with alleged leaked photos of the next-generation AirPods Pro, which showed a charging case with speaker holes to emit a sound for location tracking, allowing the earbuds and the case to be located separately.

Support for lossless audio would be a big deal and is something that wireless headphones haven’t previously been able to boast.

The Bluetooth connections currently used aren’t capable of the bandwidth needed for lossless audio, but it’s likely Apple will find a way to transfer audio without using the popular connection method.
