Most of you might have already know by now that Google has started rolling out Android 2.2 Froyo for Nexus One users via an OTA download. If you are on a stock Android 2.1 and waiting for the update to arrive, you can alternatively download and install the update manually too. And for those of you who are on a modded Nexus One can simply download and install the pre-rooted Android 2.2 FRF50 update by following the instructions posted here.

Android 2.2 on Nexus One

Over at XDA, Cyanogen has already posted “Quick Rooter” for the stock Froyo users who have received the update via OTA and want to have full root access on their device. The instructions are as follows.

Just a quickie to enable root access on the new FroYo OTA.. This is *not* a full ROM, but meant to be flashed over an existing stock installation. This is just something I threw together for myself until Google releases the source to AOSP and CM6 can get underway.

Flash in recovery.

This will install both the Busybox and Superuser (permissions) on your phone.
