Tim Cook Credits iPhone 11 Pro Midnight Green Finish To Seiko Advance

At this point we can all surely agree that Midnight Green is the one true color to choose when picking up an iPhone 11 Pro. And according to Apple CEO Tim Cook it was only made possible thanks to Seiko Advance.

Cook visited Seiko Advance during a tour of Japan earlier in December and he was also interviewed by Nikkei.

That interview is now available, with Cook again saying that Seiko Advance is the only company that could come up with Midnight Green while still meeting Apple’s other requirements.

Those requirements include not using the pollutants and halogens that are usually required when making green. After initially pitching Tim Cook four years ago and discovering it couldn’t meet Apple’s standards and consistency requirements, Seiko Advance Sales Manager, Yukinori Kabe, now says that the company was able to develop a cleaner way to make green. And that’s where Midnight Green came from.

In fact, Seiko Advance is the only company Apple uses for its iPhone 11 Pro colors. That business makes up around 40% of the company’s business, with a number of companies employed by Apple to make the colors used in the iPhone 11.

With the iPhone 11 Pro available in Gold, Silver, Midnight Green, and Space Gray, Seiko Advance has its work cut out. Presumably it’s already working on whatever colors Apple will use next year, too.
