Tesla’s New Software Update Adds Tidal Playback, Cold Weather Improvements, And More

Tesla is in the process of pushing out a new software update for its cars, dubbed version 2021.40. That update brings with it a few new improvements including the ability to listen to music via Tidal.

While Tesla drivers already have the Spotify to listen to, the addition of Tidal is one that will surely be popular among its users.

Drivers can either stream or download content for playback, the release notes say.

TIDAL streaming is now available from the Media menu with a TIDAL account. You can listen to TIDAL playlists or albums in high-quality audio by connecting to Wi-Fi and pressing Download on the selected content.

Those release notes go on to outline a new feature for cold weather driving, giving drivers the chance to defrost their windscreen while maintaining climate settings for the rest of the car. Finally, changes to the Traffic-Aware Cruise Control feature have also been made.

You will now receive an audio alert when Traffic-Aware Cruise Control is enabled. To disable, tap Controls > Autopilot > Traffic-Aware Cruise Control Chime

A minor change — depending on where you are — is the addition of British English as a language for the in-car app, too.

If your car doesn’t yet have the update it will surely be applied in due course.
